Q: 50 Point Bezier - PROBLEM

Hi there, I'm having a very bizarre situation happening.

I'm using FCP 7 and doing a very basic matte mapping using Tom's 50 point bezier matte 2, which i've used no problem in the past.

I'm comping in a taxi cab into another shot of a woman walking, and the car is "seemingly" going to hit her.

I've gone frame by frame mapping it all out, but when it's rendered, the right side of the car shot screen is more to the left than it should be.    It's like as if the right side of that car shot screen was been moved to the left more.

The screen caps will better show what my issue is if i'm not explaining it correctly.

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL SHOT THAT I'M COMPING THE MATTED TAXI ARE ONTO:

BELOW IS SHOWING MY PROBLEM.   THE CAR IS CUT OUT ON THE RIGHT SIDE, LIKE AS IF THE SCREEN ENDS THERE.   HOWEVER NONE OF MY SETTINGS OR MARKERS POINT TO THIS SPOT AT ALL.

BELOW SHOWS MY MARKS FOR THE TAXI CAB, AND THAT IS WHAT I SHOULD BE SEEING WHEN IT'S RENDERED.   IT SHOWS THIS AS I'M EDITING THE MARKS, BUT WHEN I RENDER AND THEN PLAY BACK, THE ABOVE FRAME IS WHAT I SEE.   NOT THE FULL CAR LIKE IT SHOULD BE, BELOW:

BELOW IS THE SAME SHOT BUT LATER WITH THE ACTRESS OUT OF THE SHOT, AND THIS IS THE TAXI THAT I'M COMPING INTO THE SHOT EARLIER WITH THE ACTRESS.

I thought i was losing my mind, or there was a bug or something, so i gave up and tried this on another shot in a new sequence (which i had to do anyways).    However, same thing happened.

BELOW IS THE COMPOSITE SHOT WITH THE CAR OVER TOP OF THE MASTER SHOT WITH THE ACTORS.   THE CAR IS PULLED FROM A LATER TIMELINE IN THIS SAME LOCK OFF SHOT.    ALL OF THE MARKINGS OUTLINE THE CAR BEAUTIFULLY.

HOWEVER, AFTER RENDERING, THIS IS IMMEDIATELY WHAT I SEE BELOW.   THE CAR IS CUT OFF FOR REASONS BEYOND ME:

To take this even one step further, i tried the 8 point Garbage Matte that came with FCP, and cut out a smaller part of the car to see what would happen.  The exact same thing happened again.    Even though the entire car is not cut out like I want, i utilized this as an experiment to see if i was going crazy or not, or had some sort of voodoo on my macpro.    Clearly, something is up, and i don't know what that is.

BELOW IS THE 8 POINT GARBAGE MATTE ON THE SAME FOOTAGE / SEQ.   I'VE USED ALL 8 MARKERS TO CUT OUT A LITTLE SECTION, WHICH YOU CAN SEE BELOW, WHICH SHOW THE FULL LENGTH OF THE CAR, AND ALL OF THE FRONT LEFT TIRE:

BELOW IS JUST THE CUT OUT CAR, SHOWING WHAT SHOULD BE SHOWING OVERTOP OF THE MASTER SHOT.   NOTE AGAIN, THE FULL LENGTH / WIDTH OF THE CAR TIRE.

BELOW IS WHAT I SEE AFTER RENDERING, AND MORE THAN HALF OF THE CAR TIRE IS MISSING, DUE TO THE SAME RIGHT SIDE CUT OFF:

I apologize for the long winded question, but would REALLY appreciate some help with this.   This is for a music video, and i'm needing this sorted out asap.

Just for the record, i'm using:

MacPro 3,1

FCP 7

10.6.8 OSX

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank SO very much in advance.

Regards,

Richard

Is the source file of the car the same native pixel dimension as the background scene/timeline?

    Hi Meg The Dog,

    Short answer - yes.

Both examples are pulled from the same exact take of the same lock off shot.

The taxi cab actually pulled out moments after the blonde woman walked just past camera and we kept rolling to get some cars driving by to comp in later.

Same for the scene with the little girl on the sidewalk.   The car came from left to right, but we flopped them so the car would be coming from right to left.   That car was also from the same take in the same lock off shot with the little girl.

    Hopefully that answers your question?!
