How to resize square photos to landscape?

How to resize square photos to landscape?

I accidentally took some work pictures in square format on my iPhone. How do I resize them in iPhoto so the size & resolution more or less resembles the landscape ones I took? I need to print them, and I don't mind if there is some cropping but I don't know what resolution is average. I have an iPhone 5 with current OS if that matters.

The crop tool has some aspect ratio presets. Check the pixel size of the iPhone photos in landscape mode in the info panel for an iPhone photo And look at the ratio of width to length. Then pick a similar ratio from the aspect ratio presets of the Crop tool.

You have to crop them there is no other way.

There is no resizing. You just crop them to landscape. There is no such thing as "average resolution".
