Q: Windows Problems on my Mac.

Please help. When I tried to remove Windows, it did not work. Now I have less space on my main storage, and am running out of space. This is really annoying, help please.

    1. How were you trying to remove Windows?

    2. Please post the output of the following OS X Terminal commands

    diskutil list

    diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt for your password, and it will not be echoed back. You may also see a warning about improper use of "sudo" and potential data loss due to "abuse" of the command.

    1. I tried different ways to remove it, I firstly launched BootCamp once again and when it was busy removing the partition, it stopped saying an error message. I tried multiple times, didn't work. Secondly, I tried to use disk utility like it said on Apple website. I went to disk utility, erased, and formatted it to the type that it said on the Apple Website. Here is the instructions =

If you installed Windows on a disk that has a single partition

    1. Start up your Mac in OS X.
    2. Open Disk Utility, located in the Other folder in Launchpad.
    3. Select the Windows disk, click Erase, choose the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format, then click the Erase button.

However, when I followed these instructions, instead of the disk named Windows, it was named BootCamp. I still followed the instructions, but they did not work.

    1. The gap between GPT3 and GPT4 indicates a lost NTFS header at some point. This probably motivated you to remove Windows, even though it was a fixable issue.

    2. Now you have the gap, a HFS-formatted prior BC/Windows partition. The simplest method is to use Time Machine, back up OSX, boot into Internet Recovery, erase the internal disk, and restore from TM backup. There are other terminal-based alternatives as well.

Are there any other ways that you can specify other than Time Machine? Because I do not have a Time Capsule and it will not let me back up or restore without a Time Capsule. If there is a way to use Time Machine without Time Capsule, please let me know.

Time Machine can also use directly connected USB/Firewire/Thunderbolt drives (Backup disks you can use with Time Machine - Apple Support).
