Q: Problems after TBD Firmware Update 1.2
I recently updated my Thunderbolt displays (TBD) with the Firmware update 1.2. Like many others, I'm experiencing problems. I've MacBook Pro and Yosemite 10.10.5 and have been using two external TBD, serially connected. The main problems are:
- Only one of my two TBD works after the update, while the second is blank
- All USB ports on the TBD appear dead.
- My MacBook Pro reboots soon after recovering from sleep mode
Both displays have been updated and are visible, see graphic below. The second one works, if I connect it directly to my MacBook Pro or if I have it as the first one in the two TBD series.
A bizarre twist to this problem is that after one of the reboots (during the past three weeks), both TBD worked as before and then all the USB ports were working again. On the next reboot, I was back to one display. It is therefore clearly a firmware update issue, but not a hardware issue.
It seems that lots of people have had a similar problem after their TBD Firmware Update 1.2 and many have had their displays replaced or "fixed" at a significant cost. However, to me, it has to be a firmware or compatibility issue. Has anyone found a permanent solution to this? When is a new reliable Firmware updated coming?
