Q: Thunderbolt display will not power up

My Macbook Air is connected to my Thunderbolt display. Most times, when the laptop goes to sleep, the display goes to sleep too. The issue is, when I click on the keyboard the display does not wake. I went into to Apple and their suggestion was that I use a caffeine app to keep my laptop awake. I didn't like this for a couple reasons. For security, I don't want my computer awake all the time and secondly it's a waste of energy.

Then I realized, when I click on the keyboard multiple times the only way to get the display to power on is to open and close the laptop. When I do this, I can see all of my keystrokes were reordered to the passcode field of my computer. The Macbook Air IS awake, it's the screen that is not responding.

I've tried other solutions on the forum  about multiple screens etc. but the thing is, the computer is awake. The screen is not. I have no idea how to solve this but it's really frustrating.

Does anyone have a solution?
