Q: importing audio for iMovie iOS 9.1

iMovie iOS 9.1 allows you to pull in audio from your iCloud drive. So I uploaded a mp3 audio file from my Macbook laptop to my iCloud Drive. Then I opened the latest version of iMovie in my iPad running 9.1. I created a new project, looked for the imported audio in my iCloud Drive. The mp3 file was there in my iCloud Drive but it was grayed out and it could not be imported into iMovie to be used in the timeline.

Why did this not work? I thought that is what the iCloud Drive was all about.

What is the easiest way to import an audio, or even video, file into my iPad to be used in iMovie? (without using a hardline usb cord between the iPad and my Macbook. I hate using iTunes as the middle man)

Thanks

iPad, iOS 9.1

I ran into this same issue today. And it was surprisingly easy to figure out. Make sure you are tapping on the Audio tab on the bottom right corner after you've tapped on iCloud Drive. It defaults to video and therefore greys out your audio file when searching for it. I hope this helps!
