Q: Keychain not syncing safari passwords between phone and macbook

Hi all!

My safari passwords don't sync between my two devices. I have a macbook pro 15 mid 2015 that i work with and an iPhone 6s. I have a lot of website passwords stored in my macbook keychain, that don't reflect in my iPhone 6s safari list of passwords.

As far as i know, every synchronization is made by keychain, so i suppose this is a keychain issue.  I guess the safari sync is meant to work like the google chrome one...but it doesn't sync any of the passwords that i previously saved with my mac os safari. I don't want to switch to chrome, although its syncing works as expected.

Thanks

That is what everyone is usually missing

    iOS 7.1.1 or later:

    1. Tap Settings > Safari > Passwords & AutoFill.
    2. Turn on Names and Passwords.
    3. Press the Home button and open Safari. If Safari is black or dark instead of white or gray, turn off Private Browsing. Safari doesn't save account names and passwords when Private Browsing is on.

And you are using the same icloud account ?

If yes, follow steps here, nobody knows which one is going to help so start from the top.

Nothing on that link can help me

What i've found is that if i manually turn off and on my iPhone keychain, passwords get synced with what is stored in my macbook keychain.

Another thing i've discovered in my macbook keychain is that a bunch of websites passwords get stored in the login folder and not in the local items. As far as i know local items is the folder that get synced between all devices.

I manually copied/pasted those passwords in the local items folder (on my macbook).
After turned off and on the iPhone keychain every passwords that was in local items on my macbook now is here in my iOS safari

So, issues are more than only one. But the most important issue that i need to solve is to make the sync on my iPhone automatic. I don't want to manually refresh the keychain. This is not supposed to work this way

I've recreated the keychain on the macbook (keeping all stored data)

Now the "Local items" folder has been renamed as "iCloud". Let's see what will happen from now on. I'll report here if this solved my problem

Deleting both keychain and recreating them seems to have solved the issue

I was struggling focusing my attention on the iPhone, but what did the trick was to delete and restart the keychain on the macbook. "local items" folder in keychain became "iCloud" and i think this was the main problem preventing the synchronization. I had to reset my iPhone keychain too. I gave permissions to use the iCloud keychain to my iPhone with my macbook (didn't use the verification code)
