RAID on el capitan

hey guys i just upgraded to EL capitan and noticed that the option to create RAID was missing from disk utility. Is this possible in El capitan ? i want to create a RAID 0 out of 2 different partitons on different hard disks(both internal). Thanks in advance ! (2012 Macbook Pro)

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Great for stripes.

What about mirror volumes.

In the super user command, does replacing "stripe" with "mirror" form a RAID1 mirror between the two disks?

Does this SUDO command need to be executed every time one boots up or is it toggled on until one toggles it off?

I have used SoftRAID in the past for mirrored volumes.

I have a number of old MacPros now with multiple drives that I could use this instead.

For RAID1 use:

sudo diskutil appleRAID create mirror ...

For more options have a look at "man diskutil".

From "man sudo":

sudo allows a permitted user to execute a command as the superuser or another user...

In this case you use it to elevate your user rights and run "diskutil" with root privileges. You want to change a partition table after all.

"diskutil" is the actual tool that creates a RAID set. The RAID configuration is stored on the disks, and will stay there until you decide to re-format the drives. So no, you don't have to use that command after every reboot.
