Q: i keep getting an apple notification asking me to finish changing my passcode, how can i stop this?

Since updating to iOS 9.1 I keep getting a notification asking me to "finish changing my passcode" , I have done this but I still get the notification and I still have a red badge with a 1 on the settings icon.  When I go in to settings sometimes between the search bar and the flight mode opion I will get , "follow up 1" , when this is selected I get "finish changing your passcode.  Your passcode also protects access to data stored in iCloud.  To finish your passcode enter your new passcode in settings while connected to the Internet.". This has been done several times but I still get the same message.  Also my location is switched off but a notification came up on screen that my Apple ID was used to sign into device near London, I have since changed my password and passcode.  Can anyone help to resolve this.

I Finally just took the passcode lock off of my phone. Then went into settings and finished the passcode change again. The red badge is gone. The texts to Finish your Passcode change have quit. Tomorrow, I shall try this again, to put in a 4 or 6 digit passcode. But at least those annoying every 15 minute texts have stopped and the 1 red badge is gone. Both phones!!

I removed the passcode, which removed my credit card info, but the red badge on the settings icon disappeared! I was hopeful. Then I turned the passcode back on, got the "message" and followed the prompt to reenter my passcode. Now my red badge is back and won't go away!

Worked, although I still had to ensure I had my other Apple devices handy, as a verification code was sent to another device.

I just purchased an iPad and get this same notification. I have tried all the different steps in this thread and can't get rid of this. Is Apple doing anything to resolve this.

I have read these posts and after 4+ hours of resetting my phone, changing my password, and doing everything I could see on these threads... I finally updated my security code and expiration date on my billing information and it finally went away! So instead of clicking password, I clicked on my billing information. I realize billing has nothing to do with password... but it's what worked for me.

Strike that. Reverse it. It doesn't work.  I seem to get multiple notifications as I leave and join wifi connections.

I tried EVERYTHING else and in numerous different sequences and nothing worked.  I then went in and realized that it needed my billing information complete.  I completed the information and the icon went away.  FINALLY!!!!!

    Hi Stop and listen,

Can you explain what you mean by "old Apple-id". Do you mean "previous" (when the user changes Apple-id) or an older instance defined by Apple (e.g. before iCloud?).

In my case I am still with this inconvenience, but I have to admit that on a Macbook from early 2006, no iCloud permitted, I am running a Mobileme mail account. When I started Two-Factor identification, the Mobileme server (mail.me.com) rejected my password. So I switched Two-Factor id. off again and I got access to my mail again (via the Mail app on the Macbook). But I cannot sign-out from iCloud on this device, as I cannot sign-in! Could this be a reason that the message "finish changing your password" is still coming?

I completed the payment information in the Apple-ID account as well, to be sure, but nothing happened. And signed-out of iCloud and signed in again on the iphone, no result.

Any other ideas? My other devices are an iPad 2 (iOs 9.2.1) and an iMac with El Capitano.

Unless you disable passcode this will not go away

Apple has wasted hours of my and other peoples time by not proving a solution to the problem they have.THis problem is also related to a second issue which their genius programmers were unable to solve. When you have changed your email address which is also your Apple Id the old address randomly come up especially when they send the message your Apple Id was used to log in to your account from cxxxxx. Apple please use my new Id for everything Is it so hard?

Because of Apples lack of support on this issue my breand new I phone 6 s plus is now without a passcode If I suffer any loss due to their inability yo fix this problem I will hold them liable

I called apple and so far what we did helped...

To resolve this sign out of icloud. Reset all settings. Power the phone off, then on again. The "finish changing your passcode" will still be in your settings. I signed back in to iCloud, made a 6 digit code, then was able to change it to 4. After that I went back and selected the "finish changing your passcode", put in the new 4 digit one and it went away. That was two days ago. They haven't been able to figure out why it is not clearing. Hope this helps everyone, it ***** having to clear your settings but it makes the notifications STOP...

Here is what worked for us...(1) Under Settings / General / Reset, select "reset all settings".  (2) Follow prompts and wait for phone to reboot.  This will remove the passcode lock from your phone. (3) Go back into Settings and click on the Follow Up Notification.  This will cause it to vanish.  (4) You can now turn Passcode back on and create a new passcode.  It is a pain to have to reset all your settings but this is worth it!

This worked for me. The "Follow Up" message in Settings is gone now. Thanks !
