Q: i keep getting an apple notification asking me to finish changing my passcode, how can i stop this?

Since updating to iOS 9.1 I keep getting a notification asking me to "finish changing my passcode" , I have done this but I still get the notification and I still have a red badge with a 1 on the settings icon.  When I go in to settings sometimes between the search bar and the flight mode opion I will get , "follow up 1" , when this is selected I get "finish changing your passcode.  Your passcode also protects access to data stored in iCloud.  To finish your passcode enter your new passcode in settings while connected to the Internet.". This has been done several times but I still get the same message.  Also my location is switched off but a notification came up on screen that my Apple ID was used to sign into device near London, I have since changed my password and passcode.  Can anyone help to resolve this.

I suggest that anyone having this "Finish changing your passcode" problem try the following steps, in order:

    1. Turn off your device passcode

    2. Click on the Follow Up message in Settings to change your passcode

    3. This should make the Follow Up message go away

    4. Sign out of iCloud

    5. Turn your device passcode back on

    6. The Follow Up message should still be gone

    7. Sign back into iCloud

    8. The Follow Up message should still be gone

If for some reason this does not work, try the four steps (passcode off, passcode on, sign out of iCloud, sign into iCloud) in various sequences.

    Good luck.

Great! It's the sequence (of steps), stupid. Message gone.

Finally after 3 weeks I was successful.  I phone an Iphone and and Ipad.  To clear the ipad I did the turn on two step notification and then turn off and it worked.  For my iphone, I ended up resetting all settings, then it went away.

What if you can't turn off your passcode because of corporate policy.  I mean it's physically not possible to do so...

Thank you.  I've got a very helpful technician at Apple trying to sort this for me, because I didn't want to delete my cards, Apple Watch, Apple Pay etc. In the end I got fed up with the annoying notifications and the red badge and followed your advice.  It worked perfectly for me on my iP5 and my iP6+ and if I'm honest it wasn't too much trouble to set my cards and Apple Pay back up.  What I did do first was to disable the Two Factor Authentication because I'm certain (in my own mind at least) that this was the cause of my problems in the first place.

What I will do is wait for the Apple technician to come back to me and I'll post her reply here.  Clearly this ought to get fixed on 9.2.2.

Thank you for your help.  Much appreciated.

I am having the exact problem on my iPad iOS 9.2.1.   Per some of the solutions, I cannot disable my passcode because that option is grayed out.  I am truely at my wit's end!  I have logged out of iCloud on all of my devices and disabled the two step security process.  Then tried to finish changing my passcode.  Nothing works.

I have the same issue as my company makes me change my passcode every 90 days.  This is crazy!

Can't you get your IT support to do this for you? I know you shouldn't have to and it's a major hassle, but those notifications and alerts are really tedious. In the meantime I found if Wi-Fi was switched off and the iPhone was left on mobile data, I didn't get reminders or notifications... just the red badge icon.

I did pose the question about corporate users and fixes in 9.2.2 to Apple in my telecon and emails.  Despite sending them screen prints and details as requested, it's been over a week and they still haven't come back to me.  Disappointed but not surprised.

In the end, I removed the device management and then removed the passcode and went through the steps described earlier in this thread and it worked.

Removing the device management removed all of the corporate apps which I needed to spend an afternoon setting back up.

All in all, a royal pain in the backside.

Thanks, Apple.  Let's hope this doesn't happen again in another 90 days when it's time to change the passcode again.

How do you remove the device management?  Is this done on the device, is it a setting or is it done through iTunes?  Please explain, thank you.

We're using MaaS360 to secure devices.  I just went in and removed the management profiles, then went through the steps mentioned in this thread to fix the issue, then re-enrolled with MaaS360 (and re-added all of my corporate apps!)

For step 4, when I try to sign out of icloud, my only option is "delete account."  is that correct?  will I lose any data/info/stuff?

Yet another monumental failure for Apple.
I recently upgraded from a 5 to a 6s and had the same issue.

I tried all of the previously mentioned solutions to no avail.  In fact, it just made matters worse as I locked myself out of my account.

Fortunately, I managed to recover the situation by remembering answers to two security questions that were set up about 5 years ago!

I eventually had to erase the new phone and recover as much as I could from my laptop's iTunes libraries.  It took me the best part of a whole day.

All my call history, text messages, etc. are lost forever.

    Thanks Apple.
