Q: Downgrade an App

I searched but the latest post I found for downgrading an app was from 2009 so I thought I would just ask the question again and get a fresh answer.

I recently upgraded Waze and I desperately need to go back to the old version. I do not back up my phone very often (my last backup was August 2) so I don't want to do a complete restore or anything unless I have to. I have the older version of Waze sitting in iTunes on my Mac so I am good to go there; I just need to know what the best way is to safely get it from iTunes to my iPhone.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.1

IF you are sure that it is the older version, just delete the app on the phone and select the old version in iTunes to sync, and then sync the phone in order to move the old app to the phone. be sure that you do have the old version in iTunes and make sure that you delet the app from the phone first.

I'm saved! That was the best downgrade ever! As a followup, is there a way to back up the version in iTunes so I can be sure it does not get upgraded again?

By the way, I tried click "This solved my question", but I am not sure if anything happened.

If you have this enabled, turn off automatic downloads for apps in iTunes and on your phone. As long as never update the app, the older version will remain in iTunes. Turn off Automatic Updates on the phone as well.

Turn on Automatic Downloads - Apple Support

I Don't know what OS you are running - Windows or OS X - but this will give you an idea where the mobile applications are stored on your machine and if you so desire, you could copy the .ipa file and store it in case something happens that you didn't foresee

I have pulled older versions out of the trash on my Mac and reinstalled them when I had problems with upgrades.

I did receive the "solved" which was nice of you to do. You should be able to see it now. Thank you.
