download mov file to Camera Roll

All I want to do is download a 10 second mov file to my Camera Roll. If I try to download it through e-mail or DropBox it just opens in Safari. If I try to add it using iTunes it just goes to "Movies" and is inaccessible to the Camera Roll. I'm beginning to think this is impossible without an app (which I cannot install because my iPod's operating system is too old), but it just seems like the simplest thing in the world. Is there really no way to do this?

So what I ended up doing was downloading an app on my iPod called "Downloads" and an app on my desktop called "iFunBox". Accessing Downloads by opening iFunBox on the desktop allowed me to drop the mov file into Downloads's "Documents" folder. Opening Downloads on my iPod, I could open the file and select "Save to Photos".

All that said, is this still super complicated an messy on the new iPods/iPhones? Because it's crazy. Is it to stop piracy??
