Q: yahoo redirect

Have a problem with Safari: homepage is set to google.com but I am sometimes redirected to yahoo when i enter a search term. I assume I downloaded a virus/trojan/malware or similar.

Any current fixes?

Am running El Capitaine, Macbook Air (2012(

Processor 1.9 ghz intel core i5

memory 4 gb 1600 mhm ddr3

graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

Redirects can be due to malware or adware.

Download and run Malwarebutes Anti-Malware

If you would rather not download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, you can remove the malware manually following the instructions here > Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support

Hi Carolyn
I tried Malwarebites and removed a couple of things but the problem persists.
I restored my router/modem to factory then tried again.

Still have the problem.

Okay, I ran BitDefender also: nothing found.
I note that this is not happening when I use Google Chrome, only Safari!
