I have a Mac Pro OX 10.8.5 & I can not get the FaceTime to connect with anybody but I can connect using Skype; what's up with that?

    What happens when you try?

    Can you even sign in?

As far as I can tell I am  completely signed in. When I call others with the video icon FaceTime refuses to connect me with anyone giving me only a beep beeping sound & then disconnecting or flashes a "not available at this time" message. It's ridiculous because I've already  pre-alerted the person I'm calling with my dumb phone & they have pulled up their FaceTime to their screen & it still won't connect our call. It is not an Internet connection issue because I can connect with others using Skype.

Do you think I should go (again) & change my password? As far as I understand our Apple ID always stays the same & that is a person's email address.

    Thank You!

Can you successfully receive FT calls?

Can you successfully FT call anyone else?

No, I can neither receive or send a video call. The FaceTime screen will ring the person I am calling but will not connect; it either just keeps ringing or tells me the person is not available or just simply will end the call.

Thanks for your time & attention to this distress call out to the community; I truly appreciate it. Would love to use the program I received when I purchased this gorgeous 27' screen  OS X Mac!  Would love to see my grandson Liam!

Wow, so I have to keep looking for someone who can make house calls or anyway that's how it feels at this time. I am going to attempt (again) to set up an appointed time for a call from Apple but so far I have had zero luck in this direction as well.

This is called = extremely poor rating for customer assistance. My closest Apple store or listed consultant is a 2 hour drive from my house!

Oh well, thanks for letting me vent! I will finally figure this out; somewhere, somehow, some day soon!

In the meantime, if you think you might know someone to help me out; I'm sending you much appreciation ahead of time!

    Relentless & Grateful!

Please sign out of FaceTime on all your devices (if applicable) and sign back in on the Mac. Any change?

I have done this but still no luck. Now here is a bigger problem. I have the OS X Mountain Lion desktop Mac. My magic mouse died but when I went to pair the new magic mouse with the computer I can't 'cuz I can't open the computer it's stuck on the sign in page. The reason is that I do not have a password for my computer & only double click the Owl Icon to enter. Now's there's no mouse to click onto the Icon because of course it is not set up(paired) with my computer yet.

Yep, this is ridiculous & I haven't a clue what to do?

    Trying times!

Use a wired USB mouse for setup.

What the new mouse previously paired to another device? If so unpair it.
