MacBook Air Mid 2012 switches off intermittently without warning

i have a MacBook Air Mid 2012 running Yosemite that is switching off (literally just off no shutdown) intermittently with no warning.

this tends to happen only when i am working on battery with my Magsafe power adapter unplugged.

I am able to power up immediately right after, and the machine itself is neither overheated or with no other obvious sign to indicate it should shutdown.

It is very irritating, as i cannot working properly this way.

I have tried an SMC reset, which obviously did NOT resolve the issue!

any ideas of how i can sort this out?

You'd better make Genius Bar appointment to show the circumstances you face with now.

I think it's related with battery issue, so replace it could solve the problem.

Sadly we don't have genius bar here in Malta. How did are you that this is a faulty battery issue?

maybe you have hot corners turned on if u do u can turn it off in system preferences, desktop and screen saver

i dont think this has anything to do with it. my hot corners are set to different things such as Turn Display off or Screensaver... not completely power off the machine as if there was no battery left.
