Apple Pay does not have a limit, but transactions will be subject to your available balance and/or credit limit for the selected card.
In the UK, some merchant terminals presently only accept contactless Apple Pay payments up to the standard contactless limit of £30. To accept higher value contactless payments, their terminals must be updated and their payment providers must support the specifications. For amounts over £30, it may be therefore necessary to insert your card.
Similarly, in the US, it may be necessary to sign a receipt, depending on the store and the payment amount.
