60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter overheating

I am using a 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter with my Macbook pro retina bought in the US, and I noticed it gets really hot . I was wondering if it could be as I am using the Europe power adapter extender cable from my old macbook pro - to avoid using any US-EU adapter socket.-

Could this, in any way be damaging my macbook?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Without any specific temperature readings, it is difficult to determine if there is or is not a heat issue. Are you using a cable/connector such as this with your charger:

If you can get the charger to stand in it's side, it will run a little cooler. Mine currently is 51°c.

Ciao.

Thanks for your quick replies,

Yes, I'm using a connector like that one, well I don't have any exact temperature readings, but I've had two macbooks before, and those chargers never got as hot as this one.

Duane, it's a 13" retina macbook pro, it's the stock charger that came with the macbook. I was wondering if it could be because of power outlets in Europe supply 230V and in the US 120V ( the charger and macbook were bought from in the US). Or wondering if using this kind of adapter is also part of the heating issue :

Thanks
