Q: I want to throw my iPad Air against the wall since iOS9

Already did a fresh install, already sent thousands of feedbacks through the app on every beta of ios 9.1, I even tried the latest 9.2 beta, iPad Air is STILL feeling like a cheap samsung crappy tablet from 2010. Come on, please, either make it work decently or LET ME DOWNGRADE. I can't stand the fact that a product that I bought for 400 euros six months ago is working THIS BAD because of Apple wich is unable to test firmware upgrades or either wants me to upgrade to a more powerful product. I WANT MY SNAPPY IPAD AIR BACK, I PAID FOR IT. iOS9 was supposed to be super optimized but it's yet another Apple mess to make your "old" product feel slow and of course you can't downgrade because, you know, "security". IOS 8.4.1 WAS A BIT BUGGY BUT BUTTERY SMOOTH.

Is someone even planning on making "old" products at least usable!? Really, is there someone that thinks iOS9 runs smooth on first generation iPad Air!? Am I the only one having a nightmare experience with this thing!?

DO NOT UPDATE TO IOS9.

iPad, iOS 9.0.2

Well, I'm Not with you. My iPad Air works very well with iOS 9.1 public release.

Do you have enough free space?

Did you try Resetting all Settings with the Settings App?

Tried everything. Keyboard si unresponsive, spotlight search animation is choppy, multitasking is a pain to scroll through, animations are slow and sluggish. Before iOS9 multitasking was a breeze, typing was super fast in every situation, spotlight was fluid, opening apps was way faster and animation didn't stutter this much.

Visually is just horrible! Turning off transparency is making everything SUPER ugly, but it runs decently. I expected some slowdowns, don't get me wrong, but this is just unacceptable for me. I want animations, transparencies and a buttery smooth experience just like they promised, just like it was before or at least I want the freedom to downgrade.

    Hi

    Back up now to iCloud

Then Restore back to factory settings .

Set back up using your WiFi

We have 3 iPhones & 4 iPads not used pc for over 2 years

    Do everything over WiFi .

And we don't have any problems with ios 9.1

    Cheers

I completely agree: iOS9 *****!!!  Safari revisions make this the slowest, most pathetic web browser experience since Netscape with modem dialup.

My iPad's touchscreen response time is Same Day Service... I count 5, 10, 15 seconds while waiting for iOS response and then Safari's f-n slow behavior.

And stop the too clever vanishng tabs crap, Apple! I like my tabs visible all the time.

    THis is a nightmare.

I have upgraded/updates 4 iPads older than your iPad and iOS 9.1 is running with really well with nary an issue.

I turn off ALL of the eye candy because older iPads cannot handle all the animation effects and my older iPads DO run faster and is more responsive on iOS with All of this motion graphics effects turned off.

i have seen you post in these forums, before.

Have you tried any or all of my suggested fixes?

Try resetting All Settings found in the Settings App under General and in the right column under Reset.

Try resetting histories and deleting/resetting caches in all of the web browsers you use.

If you use Safari, these functions maybe in the Settings App under Safari.

Other web browsers have their settings inside of the running app, itself.

    Try turning on Reduced Motion.

This is found in the Settings App in the General tab  the left panel.

In the right panel look under Accessibility, the look for Reduce Motion and turn this feature "On".

You should see an appreciable performance increase on all iPad 2, 3 and 4 models.

This may help your iPad Air, too!

In the Settings App under the General Tab, in the right column, look for Background App Refresh and turn this setting to "off".

Try a reset of your iPad by holdings down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

    Good Luck!

I never, EVER trust doing iOS OR OS X upgrades/updates over WiFi. Ever!

Also, how much free storage space is left on your iPad Air.

Ideally, your iPad should maintain, at least, 4-6 GBs of free space.

You should NOT let an iDevice free space get below 2 GBs or less as this will start to cause operational anomalies.

    You are not alone:)

I am having a lot of issues with iPad Air 2 and iOS 9. When I first installed iOS 9 to my parent's iPad Air 1 gen, I was impressed how slow it became. I immediately done a restore to iOS 8.4.1. Still, this Air is on 8.4.1 and works better than my Air 2, lol. Apple should not update devices at all. I hate how updates are loaded into your device. For example on Air 1 which is on iOS8.4.1 when the each new OS comes, it autoloads on iPad when it's charging and with Wi-Fi on (and, obviously, it's always ON). It automatically downloads even when "auto download updates" function set to OFF. So when even each small update is released, it loads (is 1,3 gb!) onto your device. I hate that.

Block it on your WiFi router. None of my iDevices gets iOS auto download unless I remove the block.
