Colors distortion and haze while watching Netflix or youtube Videos in Safari

Dear Apple Community,

Ever Since I have upgraded to El Capitan I can't help but notice that whenever I am watching any type of media whether it be on Netflix or Youtube there is color distortion and haze throughout the picture. If i move the mouse via trackpad everything gets fixed for a few seconds and then the same hazy distorted video comes back. This does not occur while watching any type of media in google chrome. Anyone here have any idea what is going on and how to fix this? I am running El Capitan 10.11.1 and Safari 9.0.1. Both I believe to be the most updated versions out. Also I have the Macbook Pro 13" retina 2013 model. Anything on this would be helpful. Thank You

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Hello Carolyn,

Thank you so much for the reply. I believe I have found the problem. I have f.lux installed on my computer and I believe it was causing the issue in safari when it would change the default colors to a more warmer color at night. I have deleted f.lux and reinstalled the latest version of it but have it disabled for now. So far I am having no color distortion or haziness while watching youtube videos or Netflix. Will keep you updated when I turn f.lux back on later on tonight to see if the haziness and color distortion comes back . Thank you once again for the reply.

A Safe Mode boot deletes system caches that may help after an OS X upgrade.

Top left corner of your screen click the Apple > Shut Down.

After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

Once you are in Safe Mode, go back to the Apple menu. From the drop down menu click: Restart

Then try either a video on both Netflix and YouTube.

Hello Carolyn I have pinpointed the exact problem for this issue now. If anyone else on this forum is experiencing the same thing you can let them know about the issue. The issue is with the f.lux app only when youtube videos or netflix videos are played in full screen mode. For some reason in window screen the issue is not reproducible. The f.lux forums are plagued with complaints about this. Supposedly apple has been notified about the issue. F.lux claims it has something to do with the acceleration of the intel iris graphics card. This issue however does not occur in google chrome. Have a wonderful day!
