non linear frequency response in playback

My Imac has non linear frequency response in playback, a high frequency hump.

It is there irrespective of playback source, Itunes or a signal generator.

It may be some sort of leftover from the many sound programs and DSP I have played with.

All is now uninstalled and the PRAM reset. Still non linear frequency.

Any ideas out there?
