How to learn VoiceOver Utility?

Hi everyone,

I am a university student with a visuospacial processing issue. Was using a text-to-speech program called Kurzweil 3000, and am very much used to the navigation and shortcuts of it. Am trying to learn VoiceOver Utility, as purchasing an upgrade for Kurzweil is going to cost a lot of money, but it is really confusing and frustrating. Any tips/tricks to get things going?
