phone turning off

I have an iPhone 5C and over the past 3 or 4 weeks, mainly later in the day when the battery level is getting lower (>40), it turns itself off. When trying to turn it on, it indicates that there is no battery. Sometimes after a few minutes, you can try again and it will turn on, indicating that it has a good level of battery (at least 20%). Once these problem occurs, even turning on the device will result in it turning itself off again. It will only rectify itself by charging the battery.

I am currently running IOS 9.1. My total icloud storage is 50GB with 29.1GB available.

Hi Lucari,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you iPhone has been shutting down unexpectedly and displaying no battery charge after restarting. There are a couple of different articles I would suggest you working through in this situation.

First, I would suggest making sure that you iPhone and all applications are up to date as the following article suggests.
