After IOS 9.1 contact search not working. Why don't they check all problems and realize IOS.

I found a fix - it's a little absurd but it works - go into Contacts -> Groups -> "Show All Contacts"
Try searching - it should work.
You can then go and uncheck contact groups you don't want to display, and search will work for whatever groups remain checked.

Thanks for the reply,
I have iPhone 6 (Model: MG482ZP/A), some reason I don't have "Groups" on my contact.
I don't know why. Any other ways of doing it.
Thank you. This does work but I hope Apple does not considered a solution! đ
I'm having the same problem, and I don't have "Group" either. Only in Contacts search. Regular Spotlight search works fine though.
I found this in a Google search. Does this help?

It appears the problem was caused by updates on both my iMac and iPhone. If you are using iCloud to sync your Contacts with your Mac; goto Contacts, Preferences, goto the Accounts tab and Enable your iCloud account. This should solve the problem.
In my case, it appears the problem was caused by updates on my Mac. If you are using iCloud to sync your Contacts with your Mac; goto Contacts on your Mac>Preferences>Accounts tab, and Enable your iCloud account. This solved the Contacts Search problem for me.
I had the same problem and this is what I did... Another easier way to have the "Group" option on the contacts is via the Facebook contacts on Settings. If you have a Facebook account and are signed in on the iPhone Settings, all you need is go to Setting>Facebook>Contacts on (Green). Then back on your contact app and look at top left corner, the group will be available to you.
Has anyone had the problem my wife is facing with her iPhone 6, that when you search for Contacts beginning with "r" (for example), the search actually is being carried out for "r" plus an additional rogue letter - in this case "rg" - and hence no contacts are found? This is not true from the Spotlights screen, which works fine, but it is the case for searching within Contacts. If anyone has any ideas I'd be very grateful.
Hi,
In the corporate we have 53 employees facing the same issue after updating to iOS 9.1 they can't search through their contacts. I am one of them who is also facing the same issue with the contacts search. We advice them to wait for iOS 9.2 update. As temporary solution is to use the spotlight search to find the contact.
Thanks for your suggestion. It worked except after a while, I can't search Contacts and have to untick the Group and tick it again to force iOS to Reindex. It's unacceptable that simple iOS functions such as this failed QC. Come on, don't you guys search names before you call someone?
I am having the same issue as fong yee with multiple users after updating to 9.1. Unchecking and re-checking the group allows the search to work again until you close the app.
This affects Mail, Contacts, and Phone as the search does not work on any of those apps.
Interestingly enough I'm only having the issue in Contacts. Mail and Calendar searches are working fine but Contacts is the only app amount this three where I have multiple groups.
