Oct 29, 2015 1:56 PM in response to don 43by Linc Davis,In the Mail preferences window, please select the Accounts tab, then select one of the accounts from which messages are missing. Under Account Information, uncheck the box marked
Enable this account
then check it again. Quit and relaunch Mail. If the missing messages now appear, repeat the procedure with any other affected accounts.

Oct 29, 2015 6:05 PM in response to Linc Davisby don 43,Interestingly enough, the emails came back into the All Mail section of my mail account, so I have that solved. However, there is still the awful problem of the 12 folders on the desktop that each containing the entire desktop -- after I did the Time Machine exercise. Any thoughts on that?

In retrospect it is NOT a problem; it's just that it was different than it was before. In fact, after getting your message I clicked on an item on the toolbar and to mob delight everything went back to the way it was before.
