Q: iPhone resetting

My iMessages are working for some people I text and not for others, I said I would try resetting my phone see if this works. It has been resetting for the last 30 minutes and doesn't seem to be moving, how does do resetting take?

What do you mean by "resetting?" What are you seeing on the screen, if anything?

Try to force shut it off by holding both the power button, and the home button at the same time for about 7-10 seconds until the phone shuts off. Then try to turn it on again

the apple symbol is coming up on the screen. I went into settings and scrolled down to general, clicked on reset and then reset all settings. There is a line going across the phone which shows how long is left for it but it hasn't moved since I started the reset process

Gotcha. Didn't realize what kind of reset you were doing.

This article says it can take a few minutes to an hour. It also recommends to force restart the device if it becomes unresponsive or never finishes.

May need to force restart it and then let it load again. Let me know what happens

How do I force restart on the phone? Also by me resetting the whole phone should my I message work again?

I would assume so yes. We can get there when we get there.

Let it go for about an hour and see if it finishes. If it doesn't, you should restore the iPhone using Recovery Mode. You have to connect it to a computer with iTunes.

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you can't get to a computer with iTunes, you need to go to an Apple Store and have them reset the iPhone. If it is failing at this stage it needs to be put into Recovery Mode. But there is no point in doing that unless you can plug it into a computer with iTunes.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Not sure what caused this but the only resolution is to go to the Apple Store.

Did you try the Recovery method after the computer shut down? Try that again. Ultimately, if you can't get the iPhone into Recovery mode, you need to take it to the Apple Store. Sorry for the crummy answer. They will be able to rule out any outside issues.
