Jul 18, 2016 11:34 PM in response to kimberly254by W4RH34D,I just spent 4-5 frustrating hours with it. It was like playing the blame game. But alas, I screen recorded everything and it is crystal clear that this feature is broken and they obviously can't fix it.
First the settings wouldn't take. Then my admin software wouldn't work. Then the switch needed a reset. Then the cable modem started getting packet loss. I had to switch to another internet connection to finally confirm what we really expected anyway. 3/10 macs that I administrate successfully have working parental controls after a reboot. However it took 4 hours to get that to work, so no, it doesn't seem to be working at all. Before there was no chance of it working, now, if you beat your head on a desk and record everything you do, you can play a chess game with it. You literally have to prove every thing else you're doing works and it will "give up" and kind of maybe work.
Seriously.

Parental Controls are mentioned as one of the things fixed by the update...

Jul 19, 2016 6:40 AM in response to LukeLindblomby W4RH34D,If you can get the settings to stay after a reboot from what I've seen is what makes it work. Keep checking the checkbox list of allowed apps if you use app restriction. I just had to keep correcting it and it eventually stayed.

Jul 19, 2016 9:10 AM in response to LukeLindblomby W4RH34D,App restriction is FUBAR. I set up the offices last night until about 3 am in which I confirmed everything was working.
I wake up and check and things look good and work.
11am comes around and parental controls lost its god damned mind. Several machines restriction settings reverted to something other than what was set.
What a con.

Jul 19, 2016 9:45 AM in response to W4RH34Dby W4RH34D,I'd love to know whose idea it was to make the app selection screen for app restriction the size of a dime.
And how about a "never ask again" if you restrict an app and it keeps popping up because it's a service.
You're telling me there's millions of people and thousands of schools using this software and I'm the one that has to bring this up?
What is this crap, for real.

Probably the same person that thought making the play bar in the iOS Music app and Podcast app 5 pixels high, and nestling it just above a tab bar menu was a good idea.
Your videos, are they from 10.11.5 or 10.11.6?

Jul 19, 2016 1:16 PM in response to jetsellerby esharma,I have just installed 10.11.6 ... and my parental controls usecases now work! I am able to "Try to limit access to adult websites" on my daughter's computer, as well as allow/deny access to websites.
I have spent roughly 4 hours with Apple customer support on this issue. Throughout the whole process they continually told me that parental controls were working fine and that there was something wrong with my computer. Now, I just read the El Capitan 10.11.6 release notes:
- Resolves an issue that may prevent settings from being saved in accounts with parental controls enabled.
Which means that customer support didn't have a clue or they were being deceitful.
