Q: Only for Google links: Safari Can't Open the Page

Safari Can't Open the Page "https:/www.gogle.com/url?xyz" because the server where this page is located isn't responding.

Of course the page is perfectly reachable; and always appears when I dismiss this error and reload.

This disappeared for a while, but now is back :-(

Only in Safari, only when clicking on links which are the result of Google searches.

Anyone any ideas, please?

TIA…

iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Clean machine... no haxies; no Microsoft etc

Any updates on this? I did ANOTHER clean install and everything was perfect for a few days. I even ditched my BT Home Hub router and started using an BT Openreach modem thus allowing my Time Capsule to connect VIA PPOE and doing all the donkey work.

Issue has now come back. I have looked in my logs and this seems to the culprit below. Seems Safari is blocking it for some reason?

I'm having the exact same issue and DNS setting didn't help. It's very frustrating because I want to use safari, but keep having to go to chrome everytime I need to google something. Website that use google fonts are also broken.

There's a new release of Mac OS X today.

Last night I got two emails from Apple asking me to verify fixes for two of my bugs. One of them was about a networking issue I have with Mail (and other apps) and the other had to do with audio glitches during screen sharing or facetime audio where you'd hear a horrible sound and then one side of the conversation couldn't talk anymore (the microphone stopped listening or something).

Anyway, the first thing I noticed is, I haven't been able to reproduce THIS safari bug yet. Since one of my bugs was a serious networking issue, I am hoping they are somehow related. So, I encourage y'all to update Mac OS X today and see if the bug goes away for you. The other thing I have noticed is, When I click on a link from my twitter app, and it gets converted from a twitter short URL, to another short URL, to the final real URL, the whole process is blazingly fast. Might just be my imagination and it's even possible that none of this is fixed. But ... I am hopeful.

Wow - I really do mean blazingly fast. I never see the short twitter URL in the address bar at all anymore.

Silly me. Took about 10 more minutes before it broke again. LOL.

In all fairness, they didn't get back to me to tell me they fixed THAT bug ;-)

    Devastating.

I had/have a bug ticket open with the Google (domains?) URLs issue with Apple. I sent them the first two sets of data they asked for. Waited. They asked for more. But for almost a month I've been unable to get any Google (domains?) URLs to fail.

Could it be on Google's end after all?

    This is still broken!!!!

I deleted the cache. worked for 2 hours then broke again.

    I'm on 10.11.2

It's pretty serious. Because if I can't use google. Then I will need to move to chrome completely.

Even websites with google fonts, youtubes won't work. It's pretty bad.

I hate to reply to myself but, well, what I have to say is in rebuttal to myself.

I recently noticed that my problem seems to have gone away. There have been no software updates.

But amazingly enough I had to get a new cable modem for the first time in 3+ years.

I am pretty sure - and I can't really believe it - that the two events were related. OR, there's something else that happened around the same time.

    Weird, huh?

    Jonathan,

No - it's totally gone away for me too. Have been able to get to all Google domains for several weeks now. Just cannot reproduce it.

I too have not updated anything.

For me, the problem still exists. On my iMac and MacBook Pro. El Capitan 10.11.3 public beta (15D9c), behind the newest Apple Airport Extreme. Ziggo (largest provider of The Netherlands).
Still the same problems with HTPS links from Twitter and (sometimes) from Google.

El Capitan 10.11.3 Public Beta 2 (10.11.3 bèta (15D13b)) seems to run OK here. Already 4 hours without the problems here.

You're not alone, Hans. I have the problem consistently. Using MacBook Pro, El Capitan 10.11.2, in Ireland with provider Vodafone. I've switched to Firefox as default, just going back to Safari every so often to see if it works.

The same thing here in Germany, Cologne, MacBook Pro El Capitan 10.11.2 with provider NetCologne... firefox works fine.

Same here in Austria since about end of November or so. Meanwhile I was using Mozilla which ***** and/or with safari DuckDuckGo but other Pages like Youtube hardly load. Very often a lot of thumbnails are missing or I can't write something or klick links. I don't understand why it's only safari related, different Internet Connections change nothing. From fiberglass Ethernet (the fastest connection you can get in Austria) to wifi from my phone... no difference.
I've reset everything in safari, deactivated extensions and add ons. Sometimes after deactivation it worked for a few minutes or hours but then it's back to the messy behavior. the first few beta versions of El Crap worked great, then over lots of updates my audiointerfaces were broken and now after they are running again Safari is broken. What the **** is going on? I'm using Macs since years and NEVER had such Problems. Really a bummer, I'm reconsidering my idea of buying a Mac Pro, what should I use a great machine for when basic software doesn't run properly? Mac was always a workstation grad system for me that was working absolutely flawless.

I am not sure whether this has been asked or tried before, but what about the safe mode. I have got the impression that it works quiet fine then. But why then? May that help in any request? Has anyone an idea where there could be the differences producing our problem?
