Q: my gmail will not auto download on my iPhone 6+ after IOS 9.1 install...help???

After I downloaded IOS 9.1 on my Iphone6+, I noticed my gmail was not automatically downloading most of the time.  It will go 6+ hours sometimes without downloading and will only download after I prompt it manually.  I am not tech savvy so I think I need help..don't want to wait until an update comes out ..if at all possible.  Thank you for any assistance!

    Hi peanutems,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that your Gmail email account is not downloading mail to your inbox unless you manually prompt it to check for new mail. This could be because you have the Fetch setting set to Manual.

You can set the Fetch setting to a timed interval opposed to Manually to alleviate this situation if it is set to Fetch Manually.

You can set apps like Mail to fetch data wirelessly at specific intervals. The more frequently your device fetches email or other data, the faster data is consumed.

    • To fetch new data manually, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data. Turn off Push, then tap Manually.
    • To increase the fetch interval, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly.

This is a global setting, which means it applies to all apps that don't support push services.
