Q: MacBook / MacBook Air / MacBook Pro with iMac screen

Is it possible to successfully attach a MacBook, MacBook Air and/or MacBook Pro laptop to an iMac to simply utilize the iMac screen itself (as a display only) while operating applications/programs from the laptop?

THe older ones yes, but not your iMac 5k... The GPUs in any MacBook cannot do 4/5k video
