NowTV App not available on Apple TV 4

I've played with my ATV4 for only 10 minutes but I noticed this too.

I contacted NowTV support and they replied confirming it is an in-built app and you can find it in the "Apps" section. I'm not in front on mine at the moment so I can't look.

Definitely not available in the App Store.

I thought what the agent told me was odd. You're right, I had to download things like Netflix and YouTube.

I wonder if Apple/Sky yanked it at the last minute because of an issue? Weird we seem to be getting conflicting info from them.

That's what confused me. I saw it mentioned on the Apple website.

Hopefully they'll get this sorted soon 😟

After speaking to tier-2 support, they have confirmed the app is not avaiable yet and they can't provide a clearer timescale other than ""It should be relatively soon". Here's what I got from Seema:

"the NOW TV app will be coming out soon, there's no exact date confirmed for it but please do keep an eye out 🙂"

I also spent nearly an hour talking to Support on the phone, who could not provide any information in respect of Now TV. Also he could not explain why only a limited number of Apps are available. As the new Apple TV only seems to the advantage of a new remote control, and fewer access to Apps, I shall attempt to return it in the morning as it does not perform as stated on the website.

Annoying as I subscribe to NowTV via iTunes - I may now have to connect both ATV3 and 4 at the same time!

Someone mentioned the iOS Remote app does not work with it currently either....

yeah I think quite a few are annoyed at this. I think it would have been better if it wasn't advertised in the Apple website; surely advertising it means that the app was ready?

I took my new Apple TV back to the store today. To be fair, they refunded the money immediately. It seems unreasonable not to have delayed the launch until there is more content available in the App Store. Perhaps the hope is that by releasing the new version it will put pressure on App providers. However, the lack of knowledge of the problem in stores and the support advisors seems to indicate there isn't a strategy. I saw more Apple TV's being sold without any warning about the issue.

I too took mine back because of this. £169 to find it doesn't perform a basic function described on its product description page.

IF you are doing that, be careful. I found that every other old Apple remote in my house (even when paired to other devices) controls the new ATV. This meant for me that when operating old Apple TV, I had also turned on the new one and unseen to me may have been doing a whole range of things I wasn't aware of it. Took it back because of this and lack of Now TV as advertised.
