Nov 1, 2015 1:47 AM in response to Alley_Catby emmotive,IF you are doing that, be careful. I found that every other old Apple remote in my house (even when paired to other devices) controls the new ATV. This meant for me that when operating old Apple TV, I had also turned on the new one and unseen to me may have been doing a whole range of things I wasn't aware of it. Took it back because of this and lack of Now TV as advertised.

Nov 1, 2015 11:59 AM in response to emmotiveby rickyw9,So disappointed after reading this thread. Purchased today after checking website that Now TV is supported. Only to find out is isn't!!
***? Don't advertise it if you haven't got it. Just spent 2 hours thinking I have done something wrong before I checked here.
Turns out it gives me the option of HBO Nordic, which I can't access anyway. Thought maybe a glitch thinking I was Scandinavian in locations but no location is still UK. Not only that my iphone 6s bricked today after 9.1 update and had to be returned. GG APPLE!!

Same thing happened to me. Not sure who's at fault, Apple for launching them as a launch partner, or Now TV for claiming they'd have an app!? Ridiculous.

Nov 2, 2015 9:27 AM in response to brandscillby nikez2k4,Just throwing this out there...
You don't suppose Sky's #SetTVFree announcement has anything to do with the delay do you? http://settvfree.sky.com
I know the announcement is more about their new STB but perhaps it caused a showstopper for their Apple TV app? The announcement will be on Wednesday, 18 November.

Seems unlikely, I think they were simply not ready for the launch like they originally expected it to be.

Nov 3, 2015 10:15 AM in response to brandscillby Oldfogey11,What I found strange was how how view Apps there were available in the App Store using the new Apple TV. There are other things I wanted to stream using Apps on the Apple TV to save always having to have to use an iPad and to connect. One of the main selling points of the new Apple TV was that it could access the App Store. However, there seemed to be less than 50 Apps available. I expected the BBC iPlayer to be available and the similar streaming services from ITV and Channel 4. Except the for the new remote control there seemed little change from the older version, except the optical connection had disappeared.

Nov 3, 2015 11:31 AM in response to Oldfogey11by nikez2k4,I think a lot of people are finding the lack of apps frustrating, however keep in mind that tvOS on the new Apple TV is different under the hood and work needs to be done to convert existing apps.
Also there are only a select few launch partners that Apple will have provided tvOS previews to to guarantee the app is available at launch. All other developers (BBC, ITV, etc) get the dev kits and access to the SDK only once it's announced. They will need time to perfect their apps before launch, if in fact they're supporting the platform.
BBC have said iPlayer is coming "in the coming months" but ITV don't currently have plans to develop a tvOS app.
On the up side, Plex launched today

Nov 3, 2015 11:51 AM in response to nikez2k4by Neil Curry,Yes NowTV was one of them, a launch partner that is!
Apple has advertised NowTV as an available app, it isn't, which I believe is illegal as the device will not function as advertised.

Nov 3, 2015 11:56 AM in response to Neil Curryby nikez2k4,I agree. Even today Apple are advertising Now TV, suggesting the app is available on the new Apple TV.
False advertising.

Nov 3, 2015 12:18 PM in response to nikez2k4by emmotive,IF there is so much consensus, why not do as some of us have done and return the mid-advertised product? Just take it back. Use your power.
