How do I disable the Mail App on Mac from Auto Preview Attachments?

When I receive an email I just want the attachments to show as icons. Now, they all show up as if I clicked on them. So I have to go through and click "view as icon" on all of them. Is there a way for them to automatically show up as icons? I have a new MacBook Air that is updated.
