Q: iCloud Photo library

I currently have some 12000 photos stored on iMac & do not want to increase 5GM free storage space on iCloud. How can I select which photos I would like to sync from iMac iPhone & iPad?  Presently, I only have photos on iPad that have been taken since upgrade to El Capitan. Previously, you could select over iTunes.

Thanks

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You can still sync your photos using iTunes; just do not enable iCloud Photo Library on your Mac or your devices.  The iTunes Photo Sync will still work.

If you want to use iCloud Photo Library to sync photos to your devices, split your library.  Create one small Photo Library with only the photos you want to have on your devices,  and create a second library with all your photos.

See this Help Page on how to use multiple libraries:  https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6d60b524

Thanks Leonie. I have turned off iCloud Photo Library on all devices & am currently in iTunes to choose photos I want on my devices. Message on my Mac now says "iTunes cannot sync photos to the iPad because your Photos Library is not yet available." Any further ideas?
