Q: Why is the Remote App not compatible with 4th gen Apple TV?

Is it Apple's plan to release an update to the Remote app to support the 4th gen ATV or are they ditching the app?

My guess, Apple has said all apps require the ability to use the new Apple TV remote. Suspect the current remote app does not have this functionality and Apple would have some push back from developers if they violated their own rules. I like using my Harmony and or Apple app to control my Apple TV3, so hope Apple finds a solution. Also Apple needs to allow more then one physical remote to control the ATV4.

    'nuff said - it's a disgrace!

I might return my ATV4 if an update to the remote app is not forthcoming.

    Please send feedback here:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html

Everyone who wants to see the Remote app updated to support ATV4 needs to let Apple know how dissatisfying the ATV4 experience is without it.  The new Siri remote is great for lots of things, but being forced to use the on-screen character selector is not one of them - in fact, it's maddening.   I can't recommend the ATV4 to anyone until this is remedied.

I agree. I cant say more because they keep instantly removing my posts.  Others post opinions here and as long as they are PRO Apple they stick around.

No, your posts are removed because they violate the Terms of Use. And you were sent an email explaining why. The post to which you replied is quite critical and yet, here it is. As is your post from 11/7 that is also quite critical.

I thought the same thing, but then I looked around, and found a lot of information that suggests this won't happen. It's also not inconceivable that they won't update the app given the tendency (often for good reason) to abandon old tech. However, I find it ironic that I could setup the ATV4 via Bluetooth on my phone, but not use the remote app. For me, it is not functional without the app. One, the remote is too little to keep track of 2) It is fragile, and I have young kids who love to use the apple tv, using their ipad or itouch to control it 3) I have four ATVs, I would like to update them all, but I don't want four remotes to keep track of or have to replace. My wife saw me struggling with the app, when she asked what was wrong, she told me to take it back, because she's not using the remote or being responsible for keeping track of it, keeping it from getting broken, and reminded me that she is perfectly happy using her own phone and app to control it. Her final word was "What do we need that stupid thing for if it doesn't work the way we like to use it?", and then I got in the car and returned it.

I Bought the 4th gen box today and the lack of remote (which I assumed would be there) is an absolute disaster as far as I am concerned...

apple music...great ( but could have just did AirPlay)......Siri...well let's see will give it a go....

Loved being able to control the 3rd gen via my iPad.....very similar to Spotify etc.....

WWithout the iPad support I will be taking this back I fear.
