Oct 30, 2015 6:26 PM in response to bnichols75by bearfilm,I noticed that too - I am sure it is not an oversight but i do hope there is an option to be able to play them soon!

Oct 31, 2015 6:30 PM in response to bearfilmby Charles Richardson,Yep. Big disappointment. I watch ton of shows. Headed back to my Apple Store tomorrow for a complete refund. Old school is better or at least for now until Apple turns off the podcasting feature of the current os. Keep an eye on the refurb site and you'll pick this one for about 30 bucks less than what it cost new.

Nov 1, 2015 6:05 AM in response to bnichols75by cjsblee,WHat a disappointment. I would not have purchased this device had I known podcasts are not available. I use podcasts a lot and wNt that featur maintaind. Put it back Apple or tell users in advance of purchase.
SEems like apple doesn't want to compete with a wider range of content providers. Maybe they should dump pidcasts aaltogether?
don't becom a Comcast yuo bums!

Nov 1, 2015 9:09 AM in response to Keith_extra charsby morrispe,I know its frustrating but realize it is only launch weekend for a new device, OS, and App Store. I watch and listen to podcasts too but they are still somewhat of a niche use case for the Apple TV.
We can expect many additions to the Apple TV app store in the near future and there could be 3rd party solutions in addition to Apple's. Give it some time and send your feedback here. http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html

Nov 1, 2015 1:44 PM in response to bnichols75by bvogts,It's getting increasingly difficult as a committed Apple fanboy, to defend Apple when they pull this kind of crap. I use the Podcasts app all the time. Well, at least, I did until I bought the new Apple TV.

Then return it and keep using what you were using. Why would you keep something that doesn’t do what you want it to? I don’t understand the mentality of buying something, finding out it is not what you thought it was, and then wail and moan about it instead of returning it.

Nov 2, 2015 7:52 AM in response to lkruppby bvogts,Making a legitimate criticism of a product that surreptitiously deviates from a well-established feature set is not wailing and moaning. Further:
- The problem is software-based, which means that not only will it likely be fixed with a future software update, but it could affect my Apple TV 3 as well, if Apple goes the other direction and decides to remove the Podcasts channel in a future update for it.
- Maybe you have two hours to fritter away returning a device to the Apple Store for problems that will likely be fixed with a future software update (see #1), but I unfortunately don't.
- Apple tends to monitor trending topics in the support forums, which means that, absent the specific feedback channels they have introduced for certain product lines, the forums are a productive way to find workarounds and alert the company that users are unhappy. Returning the device doesn't tell the company what the specific problem is.

Being a fanatic is rarely healthy and Apple is quite capable of looking after itself.
By the device that best meets your needs.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Then keep the snark out of your comments in the future. Read your own post. It wasn’t a “legitimate criticism” at all. It was a sarcastic, snarky whine and you know it was. Meanwhile there’s this tidbit...
