Apple TV (4th Gen) won't recognize Apple bluetooth keyboard

I have an Apple wireless keyboard (3rd gen - 0x3, 0x31C) that I'm trying to connect to new Apple TV 4th gen. It pairs/unpairs correctly with both my Apple TV 2, as well as my Macbook Pro 15" and iPad Air. When I try to pair it with the new ATV, the keyboard light is correctly blinking/discoverable, but the "OTHER DEVICES" prompt on the Settings -> Remotes and Devices -> Bluetooth screen just has the spinning wheel displayed. I know it's "day one", but just wondered if anyone has dealt with this in the past.

Wireless keyboards not supported at this time.

Wireless keyboards aren't compatible with Apple TV (4th generation).

What is the logic in this? I just bought this keyboard a month ago to use with the previous generation Apple TV, and now it's useless? Is it because Apple wants to track all usage with Siri? Try entering a password with the on-screen keyboard. Seriously this seems like a step backwards.

Sorry this not an answer. "When" will Apple support the Apple Wireless Keyboard I already have, on the 4th Gen Apple TV I just bought?

No-one in these forums would know anything about Apple's future plans. You should send feedback to Apple to make the point - if enough people do this it might have an effect.

I have an email from Eddy Cue personally saying that the Apple TV Gen4 will have Bluetooth Keyboard support 1st Quarter 2016. It's coming.
