Q: App password storage/login thru iCloud Keychain?

i Thought that with iOS 8, tthat Apple said developers could support saving on app user IDs and passwords to iCloud Keychain. I thiink some support 1password in this way. Is this true? wouldnt this make buying a new iPhone or setting up the new appletv easier if it pulled all the user IDs and passwords from the keychain?

    Hello LanceT,

You are indeed correct about third-party apps being able to sync your app login information with iCloud keychain according to this article:

Frequently asked questions about iCloud Keychain

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204085

Does iCloud Keychain work with third-party apps?

Yes. Developers can update their apps to work with iCloud Keychain. Passwords saved by those apps are kept up to date on all devices that use the app and are using iOS 7.0.3 or later or OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later.

So it is a matter of it being implemented but the developer but the option is surely there! Also keep in mind that Apple TV does not support iCloud Keychain according to this section of the same article:

iCloud Keychain keeps your Safari website usernames and passwords, credit card information, and Wi-Fi network information up to date across all of your approved devices that are using iOS 7.0.3 or later or OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later.
