Q: Mac OS X 10.11.1 breaks HDMI output (MacBook Pro 13")

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro 13" (mid 2012) with an Intel HD 4000 and a MacBook Pro 13" (2009) with a Nvidia GeForce 9400M. When I connect a TV via mini Displayport to HDMI, both computers recognize the TV correctly as an external monitor/display in system prefernces/display, also changing resolution ... etc. is possible, but the TV doesn't get a video signal (error message: unknown video signal) via mini Displayport to HDMI.

I have the problems since I updated to Mac OS X 10.11.1. (15B42).

Because  the TV is correctly recognized by the MacBook in system preferences as an external TV, it is not a problem with the cable or the mini Displayport to HDMI adpater I guess.

Anyone else have the problem?

Thanks for sharing,

chris

I started both laptops from an external hd with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 - with the same results. So it is obviously not a problem with Mac OS X 10.11.1, because under Yosemite everything worked fine before. Must be the Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter or the HDMI cable.

Problem solved, did not expect the cable or adapter could stop working over night ...

By the way, is it better to buy a new Mini Displayport to HDMI cable or adapter?
