Dec 4, 2015 11:04 AM in response to serendypityby wellspokenman, just a 'me too' post. If anyone else feels the same way this is the link that will let Apple know where you stand on this (or any other) issue:

A small point: using Siri in many non-english languages (to search for music, for example) is not, and will never be, as good as text entry. Just in Norway, a nation with less people than Sydney, we have hundreds of dialects. Many song titles are intentionally written in the dialect of the band - yet this is not an officially recognised language, so will always be difficult for something like Siri to recognise. Text entry please, Apple.

Then you must have gotten the only one that will support a BT keyboard. Guess you just got lucky.

Dec 4, 2015 12:17 PM in response to Meg St._Clairby Buckethead57,No, the ATV4 has Bluetooth 4 built in. Thus it will connect to any Bluetooth-enabled device. To include the Bluetooth keyboard referred to above.
As well as watching TV, in stealth-mode, wearing the Bluetooth headphones I have.

Dec 4, 2015 12:17 PM in response to Buckethead57by Meg St._Clair,The ATV 4 doesn't have a profile for a BT keyboard. Or, all the people complaining about the lack of support are completely confused.

Dec 4, 2015 12:22 PM in response to Meg St._Clairby Buckethead57,I know what Apple claims on their web site and I know about all the people complaining. But the day I bought the ATV 4 I got sick of using the remote to enter my password in a zillion places, picked up my Logitech K480 Bluetooth keyboard, hit the pair button for iOS devices at the top of the keyboard and it immediately showed up on the ATV 4 as a device. I then connected successfully to that keyboard and input the remainder of my passwords using it.
If you, or anyone else for that matter, doubts this then I will be more than happy to supply a screen shot of the device paired to the ATV 4.

I guess you missed the huge number of complaints about no keyboard access when the ATV 4 was released. Also no access via the iOS Remote app. Perhaps there has been a software update, which would be good news. Can you really type something into a Search field with your keyboard?
As of Nov 17, Apple's own stuff says it's not possible yet

Dec 4, 2015 12:37 PM in response to Tom Geweckeby Buckethead57,Don't know about typing things into a search field as I only used it for entering my password for my AppleID, Nexflix, etc. Like I wrote earlier, I was surprised that it worked considering what Apple's web site states, as you showed, and also what people are complaining about. I tried it using the keyboard I mentioned as a last resort before flinging the remote out the window. I was quite surprised to see the keyboard listed under Bluetooth devices. (Along with my neighbor's Samsung Soundbar!)

Dec 4, 2015 12:55 PM in response to Buckethead57by Kevin Callahan,My ATV4 is running tvOS 9.0.1. I just pulled out one of my many Apple BT Keyboards. When I try to pair the ATV4 with another Bluetooth device, it just spins as it searches. No discovery of the BT Keyboard. I made sure the keyboard was not paired with any other device/computer. Also, doesn't appear the Remote app has been updated to support ATV4. So what is it about the Logitech keyboard that connects to ATV4 when Apple's own keyboard does not?

Dec 5, 2015 8:58 AM in response to Buckethead57by Protodd,Even the big review guys (Engadget, cnet etc) have confirmed that keyboard support is not available. You must have some pretty awesome tech skills to do something that is not supported...

No, he's just the lucky owner of a Logitech k480:-)

Dec 6, 2015 6:48 PM in response to Buckethead57by Uthacalthing,I, for one, would like to see the screenshot. I've unsuccessfully attempted to pair three different Bluetooth keyboards, including a Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard (but not a K480). Given that Logitech also say it's not possible to pair with Gen4 over Bluetooth, only IR (https://support.myharmony.com/en-us/harmony-experience-with-apple-tv), my curiosity is more than a little piqued.

Dec 8, 2015 4:04 PM in response to Protoddby Uthacalthing,That is good news, at least we have some sort of rapid text entry now! I'll upgrade & test the Apple & Logitech BT keyboards this evening and report back.
