Q: Need for help with Airport Express

I have an airport express linked to the main router via Wi-Fi. I use Airport express to stream via airplay the music from my Apple devices to an old hi-fi. Unfortunately, I can't link via ethernet the two routers (in order to make the connection more stable) because they are in different rooms.  So, when I stream music, my mac automatically links to the airport express.  This let the Internet speed drop, I think because of the wifi link between routers (again, roaming is better then extending).  When music streaming is over, my mac doesn't connect anymore to the main router, determining a costant Internet speed drop. I have all the times to reboot both routers, the main and the Airport express, in order to let my Mac connect to the main one (again full speed). The speed drop was from 9 Mbps to 2 Mbps!

Now, I need your help: I tried to link the routers via powerline, but the electricity cables of my house are old so I had dispersion anyway; how can I let my Mac link back to the main router after used AirPlay, so I don't have to reboot my system every single time?

best regards

AirPort Express 802.11n (2nd generation), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
