linear regression graph

I have a Numbers table with a list of dates in column A (format 07/22/15, for example) and a list of values in column B (format 0.1, 0.9, for example). From that table, I've generated a graph of the values with the dates = x, values = y. I want to generate a linear regression of the y values and show that regression line on the existing graph. No help in Help that I've been able to find. Thanks

OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), Numbers 3.6

Hi Dr. Dave,

Are you trying to do something like this?

I selected the cells in the table, chose 2D Scatter, and created the chart. Then in the panel at the right I went to the 'Series' tab and chose 'Linear' under Trendlines. I also checked the 'Show Equation' box. You can also show the R2 if you want.
