Nov 1, 2015 3:03 PM in response to Cullen745by Spyderwing,★HelpfulThe remote for your sound bar has to be pointed at the actual Apple TV unit while programming the learn, not the little remote. I have a Bose sound bar that the Apple Remote now controls the volume.

Nov 1, 2015 3:03 PM in response to WesternPoetby Cullen745,This didn't solve my question. This still doesn't work, of course you have to point the actual sounder remote at the Apple TV.

Nov 1, 2015 3:42 PM in response to Cullen745by Spyderwing,MY Apple TV 4th Gen is connected to my tv with only an HDMI cable. I don't know why your Apple TV remote isn't working. Did u enable the control of tv and receivers ,and are you holding the volume up button steady until the progress bar fills up?? Also make sure the proper remote is checked and not auto.

Nov 1, 2015 4:26 PM in response to Spyderwingby Cullen745,I'll try to give as much details to my issue as possible. My apple TV remote works. It's just the volume when i "Learn New Device" doesn't actually enable me to control the volume with my apple TV. I have:
Apple TV connected to my TV through HDMI.
Soundbar connected to my TV through Digital Output cord.
So i don't know if it's because I'm not using HMDI from my soundbar to my TV or what. My TV is on mute and all my sound comes from my home theater system/soundbar and subwoofer. What should my "Audio Output" be? Right now my only option is Apple TV, as it doesn't recognize my soundbar.

Nov 1, 2015 4:48 PM in response to Cullen745by Spyderwing, and I are connected the same exact way...HDMI from ATV4,then tv is connected to sound bar by optical cable.. My tv output is set to digital audio output of Bitstream and the output terminal is set to fixed, not variable. And my Audio Return Channel is set to Auto so it can use HDMI and SPDIF or either.

Nov 1, 2015 5:03 PM in response to Spyderwingby Cullen745,So i just realized my TV HDMI-CEC wasn't on. Turned this on, Turned my surround sound on my Vizio TV, Digital Audio out is bitstream, and analog out is fixed. I don't see anything on my TV about Audio return channel, which sounds important because i want it coming from Digital Output. Still not able to change volume from my appleTV remote. Also, Why is your audio output through airplay?

Nov 1, 2015 7:05 PM in response to Cullen745by Spyderwing,it sez AirPlay because I renamed it to that.it used to say Apple TV. WOW I dunno where to go from there. mine was pretty straightforward set up. Mebbe u should reset everything back to default and start over. U prolly have already I'm guessing. Sure wish I coulda helped.
