Q: Why is macbook pro overheating and battery draining v.v quickly all of a sudden?

Last week the fan on my macbook pro 2011 started getting continuously noisy and heating at the rear. also all of a sudden the battery drains from 100% - 0% in about 1.5 hrs. prior to last week the computer was running smoothly with it taking 6-7 hours to drain battery. Any ideas?

It may be that there are applications running that are using a lot of resources. Open Activity Monitor in such situations and see if you can identify them.

Turn them off, IF YOU CAN! Leave root apps alone.
