I see you are a new user here in Apple Support Communities - welcome! I hope we find you contributing often in the future.
It sounds like for some reason you are trying to boot from Recovery on your Mac but it is not completing the startup. Is that right?
It is possible that the Recovery may not be bootable. In this case, you may need to use OS X Internet Recovery. To do this follow these steps -
- Connect your Mac to the Internet. If you have a wired connection available this is better as a wireless connection will likely be slower.
- Start up the computer and hold down command option R until the progress bar appears. Reference - Startup key combinations for Mac.
- If you don't have a wired Internet connection you'll be asked to select a wireless network. Continue.
- The computer will boot up from an online disk image. It can take quite a while, depending on your Internet speed.
Once booted from Inernet Recovery you have the same options as you would when using the Recovery System from a startup drive. See this article for reference - OS X: About OS X Recovery.
If you should continue to have issues with this, please post back with details. It would be helpful to know what you are intending to use Recovery for and why, and the type of Internet connection you are using.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Safe computing.
