Hi how-z,

Thanks for replying with this additional information.

Based on the situation, here are some troubleshooting steps that can help.

First, try these steps from Get help if you can't make or receive FaceTime calls if you haven't already:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Update your device to the latest version of iOS.

If the same thing keeps happening, try signing out of FaceTime and iMessages on your iOS devices.

First, sign out of both devices.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with iMessage and FaceTime. If the phone number is still available on your other devices after you sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on your iPhone, you might need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all of your devices.

Next, sign back in on your iPhone and iPad and enable FaceTime using the steps below. (If possible, before signing in on your iPad, have someone FaceTime call you to see if it rings on your iPhone.)

Sign in to iMessage:

  1. Tap Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
  2. Tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage. Then sign in with your Apple ID. Use the same Apple ID as your iPhone.
  3. Select the phone number and email addresses that you want to be reached at.

Sign in to FaceTime:

  1. Tap Settings > FaceTime.
  2. Tap Use your Apple ID for FaceTime. Then sign in with your Apple ID. Use the same Apple ID as your iPhone.
  3. Select the phone number and email addresses that you want to be reached at.

After you sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPad or iPod touch, your iPhone will get a notification saying that your Apple ID and iPhone are now being used with iMessage or FaceTime on your iPad or iPod touch. You’ll get a notification for every email address or phone number that you enable on each additional device.

If you're using an iPhone, FaceTime automatically registers your phone number. To also register your email address on your iPhone, tap Settings > FaceTime > Use your Apple ID for FaceTime, and sign in.

If you're using an iPad or iPod touch, register your email address by tapping Settings > FaceTime > Use your Apple ID for FaceTime, and sign in.

(From Use FaceTime with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch)

All the best.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Turns out the problem is different/more complicated than I described. After I performed the steps jeremy_v gave, I had some one call on FaceTime. My iPhone did not ring. They immediately tried to call again on Facetime and my iPhone DID ring on their second call. They then phoned me and said that they needed to phone two times also to get through. Apparently the first attempt to phone or FaceTime my iPhone goes to "missed call" and if the callig party makes a second attempt, my iPhone rings. Very odd. I plan to call my carrier to see if they can resolve this issue.

Hi how-z,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We can certainly look into why your iPhone doesn't ring on incoming FaceTime calls.

There are a few more things I'm wondering about the situation, though:

  1. Does your iPhone ring for phone calls?
  2. Can you make FaceTime calls?
  3. Does this happen on Wi-Fi and/or cellular data connections?
  4. Is your Apple ID signed in to other iOS devices or Mac computers?

Let us know! This information can help lead us to the answer.

Cheers.
