Q: I am running out of storage on my MacBook pro

i have only 19gb of my 320gb storage. I have identified that I have a iPhoto library folder and also a photos library. I don't understand what the difference is. They both are 90gb each. Can I delete one as this would free up space or do I need to save one to external storage. Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

maybe I can help you, tim166, maybe not.  iPhoto is the older version of Photos, which Apple has given us as a replacement for iPhoto (Lucky us !)

I think both will work just fine, if you need them to, but I suppose you could move your stuff from your iPhoto library to your Photos Library then perhaps

delete  the iPhoto Library.  of course,. you could burn it to a dvd, or other external storage as a backup.  You may also wish to delete stuff that you don't use, such as Garage Band. I don't know exactly what model of MacBook Pro you so can't really make a whole lot of exact recommendations, just more general ones. Of course, I could be wrong here.  320 gb storage isn't much, is it? Depending on the year and model of MacBook pro you have, have you considered upgrading the hard drive and the RAM? The older models are upgradeable, the newer ones aren't.

    good luck to you
