using preview to scan documents

Hi

I am trying to use preview to scan documents. Firstly - there is no option to determine where to save the document to (there are a few pages on the web that talk me through this and they say you can, well, I can't. Which means - second question - where does the programme default the documents to? It says it has scanned but i can't find them. Meaning that I have to take screen shots, which lacks image quality.


I use a Macbook Air on OS X 10.9.5.
