Q: scanner defaults in yosemite?

i have three HP scanners. how do i set the DEFAULTS?

currently for example one of them defaults to TEXT type and 75 resolution and i don't remember having this problem previously.

i would like to set them to COLOR and 300 dpi.

i am not seeing anything in printer scan prefs or on the web.

command P open the print dialog> Presets make your choice here

For Scanner: scan from dedicated scanner software, scan from control panel on scanner.? Options here, Look for the option that gives you better control

hi. i'm scanning from preview.

are there default settings in preview?

or is everyone using image capture to scan now?

scanning from the device with mac OS is a loser and a big time sink IMHO.

unless I am missing something about this link (what is the reason you are posting it) - it is not helpful.
i looking to get help with MAC software defaults. the manufacturer printer scan settings come with the OS but they are less than useful so we all have to use MAC software to scan and print and I need help with MAC settings.
either that or the developers need to improve a thing or two if this request does not currently exist.
do /you/ scan using the Mac software? if so, do you set your prefs every time?
