Apple MusicUnfortunately the iOS remote app doesn't support the new Apple TV yet. You can submit feedback here. http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html

Nov 1, 2015 8:17 AM in response to larry from canyon lakeby Steve Neal,If you are using an Apple TV 4th Generation - you can't...
There is no support currently for the iOS Remote app (or the Apple Watch OS remote app) to work with ATV 4th Generation units. And to make things worse, you can't use a Bluetooth keyboard either (as you could on previous models)
At the moment the ONLY form of text entry is the Siri Remote (or an older Apple IR remote) and left/right scrolling in the on-screen keyboard. Which is a real pain. And lots of us are unhappy about. Massive step backwards, particularly if you use complex passwords.

Nov 1, 2015 1:48 PM in response to larry from canyon lakeby MJMacinhack,There have been many postings here and in other forums regarding the lack of support for iOS Remote App and Bluetooth keyboards with ATV4. Although most gripes have been regarding the painstaking hunt-and-peck method for logging in credentials, to me the real deal-breaker is in using the Siri remote to play my music through ATV. Typing user names and passwords, although cumbersome on the remote, it not something we will have to do very often, but I use my ATV almost daily to listen to my music library. I have a large (>12000 songs) music library with hundreds of albums and artists, and it is just short of impossible to navigate my music using that tiny little track pad on the Siri remote. Without an iOS Remote App to navigate my music, this ATV4 breaks one of the main functions I used on my ATV3. We have 14 days to return the ATV4, and if support for the iPhone / iPad Remote app doesn't show up in that time frame, mine will be going back for a refund and I'll revert back to using the ATV3. A pretty screen-saver and Siri's limited search functions are NO substitution for a useable music player. Everyone please send Apple feedback on this issue!

Nov 1, 2015 2:14 PM in response to MJMacinhackby morrispe,Siri Apple Music search on ATV4 is coming in a few months. http://www.theverge.com/2015/10/29/9634000/apple-tv-siri-works-with-apple-music- next-year
One would also expect an upgrade to the Remote app that allows it to be used with the ATV4. It doesn't make any sense for Apple not to do this and I'm not sure why it wasn't released for the product launch unless they found last minute bugs or lacked resources.
If these forums are an accurate indicator then it looks like half the Apple TV's purchased this weekend are going back tomorrow morning

Nov 1, 2015 3:05 PM in response to morrispeby MJMacinhack,Yes I saw where Siri will support music search on ATV4 sometime early next year, but iOS Remote app has supported music library search all the way back to ATV 1st gen. Also, the iOS remote app had volume control on the ATV1 but not on 2 or 3. Since ATV 4 supports volume control I was hoping the Remote app for Apple's "latest and greatest" TV box would support volume control (like it does in iTunes on OS X), but never in a million years did it cross my mind that the remote app wouldn't be compatible AT ALL with ATV4 at launch. Just for fun I just used the Siri remote to scroll through my music library in "Artist" view on the ATV4. Even with "Touch Surface Tracking" set to fast it took FORTY-SEVEN swipes of the thumb to scroll from Aaron Neville to ZZ Top!!!
I agree morrispe, it looks like there will be a lot of these units showing up soon on Apple's refurbished products store web page.
For a company that constantly claims how much they love music, they sure butchered it on this new Apple TV...
