Photos stuck on "Updating Library" after El Capitan download

Hi

I just downloaded el Capital on My Macbook Pro. When plugging in my iPhone 5s, Photos opened up and started "updating library". Photos has now been stuck on updating library at 18% for 4h. Any ideas?

Mac details:

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010)

Processor: 2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

OS X El Capitan

10.11.1

I started having trouble with photo when trying to delete photos from the library to empty my computer. According to my mac's stogare section, Photos take 72 GB space.

All photos backed up so happy to wipe library if needed.

Thank you

I also have the same problem. I have tried to upgrade my library a few times. For now I guess I will stick with iPhoto. It just ***** when I go to upload photos the new Photos program tries to open. It also seems to have mad a copy of my iPhoto library so I have two 165GB libraries sitting on my iMac. Looks like El Captain is sinking with the ship. Steve (God rest his sole) would have never put up with pushing out something that was never tested. Uggghhh.. I have wasted two days on this. If any has any luck please post.

Thanks,
